This is my photo gallery. I have collected a bunch of photos here from various events. Promise not to laugh, but I hope you enjoy. I will keep adding more images to this page, so please come back again. Yes, this is Neil and me in a Bath of Strawberry Jam, kindly provided by Hartleys!! We were promoting the British Heart Foundation `Wear Red for Heart` Week in July 2003. It was very sticky and we needed a good hot shower when we got out!!
With ‘Madam Cyn’ – Cynthia Payne, one of my ‘Great British Battleaxes’. She called in to see us at home in 1998. My Mum had just come out of hospital after a heart attack. As it was summer we lit the fire and enjoyed a plate of hot buttery crumpets – which seemed appropriate for Cynthia!
Made-over as ‘Posh and Becks’ for GMTV – instant transformation in the space of about half an hour during the live programme. Pity we didn’t get to keep the thrones! BTW - that's not a hairy chest I'm sprouting - it's a necklace!
After ‘I’m a Celebrity….’ – Still sporting the black eye I got during the swimming and diving trial, I took Neil back into the camp so he could see where I had been incarcerated for two weeks! On the other side of the camera for a change! With the Trial Bridge in the background. Don’t remind me about the ration of Rice and Beans! The smelly old Loo – better than nothing! A deep hot bath – sheer luxury – not to mention the champagne! Back in London at the After Show Reunion with Ant & Dec With Nigel and three of the Little Benns – I think that’s only half of them! School photograph – aged 8.
Taking part in a Parliamentary Charity Parachute Jump with the Red Devils in July 1980. Tremendous fun – but Neil was jolly glad to see me land safely! With the great Dame Barbara Cartland – another of my Battleaxes. She used to come for lunch with us at The Old Rectory in the summer every year, with her two sons, when they were on their way up to stay in Scotland. In the garden of our little cottage in Cheshire – these photos were used for Neil’s Election Address in 1987. He wore that jacket for every election campaign since 1974 and it is still going strong! Yes – the wonderful Ken Dodd – he came to our house to open an Exhibition of paintings by our friends Janice Sylvia Brock in aid of Arthritis Care North West. A giggle a minute!
This is me with Janice Brockand two of her paintings in the background. She’s a wonderful person who has triumphed over crippling disease and pain to create these huge vibrant canvases. Have a look at some of her other work on www.brock-gallery.com Note the horns! – this was the idea of the then Picture Editor of the News of the World – he wanted a picture with a difference to go with an article. Guess who! – helping the WRVS to prepare meals for elderly people in about 1989. This portrait was painted by our friend James Hadfield-Hyde – he wanted to catch me in pensive mood and painted it from photographs without telling me anything about it. Imagine my surprise when he arrived one day with the finished product. Here we are together at the picture framers. Launching the death-defying Space Shot in 2001 – an amazing and exhilarating new ride at Southport Pleasure Beach which shoots you hundreds of feet into the air at breathtaking speed – you leave your stomach behind at the top! I always knew I would make a good barmaid! Pulling Pints at the pub in Oxford when we were doing Rocky Horror Show at the Apollo theatre in 2002. With the delicious Jonathan Wilkes who was playing Frank’n’Furter in Rocky during the 30th Anniversary tour. Yes – this is really me – another shot from the Mail on Sunday Makeover in 2000.
This was taken for an article in Woman’s Journal in 2002 - I have used it for the cover of my autobiography 'For Better For Worse' - which was published lin 2005. These next three photos were taken by OK magazine for a feature they did in September 2001 My Mum (Granny) looking wonderful – as always - and still going strong at 92! Glamming-up by the fire - for OK magazine - looks a bit corny but there we are - that's what they wanted! Another pose for OK. This one was taken for ‘The Times’ by our battered old garden shed and crumbling wall. It was the last shot of about fifty and was, of course the one that was used. Book signing at Politicos Bookstore in Westminster when the ‘Battleaxes’ first came out in hardback in October 1997. Neil just loves dressing up – here we are as Drag Queens for the BBC in Northern Ireland – showing that he does indeed have the best legs in the family! Hosting a Christmas Radio Show for Imagine FM in Stockport in 1999 – great fun once we had got the hang of all those knobs! Doing my Sharon Stone impersonation! No rude comments please - it was NOT my idea I can assure you - the photo was taken while we were shooting an ad campaign for Hush Puppies!
